I was co-opted onto the governing body in autumn of 2022. I am also a governor at Risedale School in Catterick.  I began teaching in The Allertonshire School in 1975 and retired from there at the end of 2014. We have lived in the catchment area of Broomfield since 1984 and our twin boys attended the school and Allertonshire/Northallerton College. (They are now aged 28).  I taught maths in my early years but then for most of my career taught science.  I held various posts in school ranging from Head of Department to Deputy Head then to Associate Headteacher. I was joint author and a co-ordinator of the Allertonshire/College Specialist Schools Bid, the funding from which allowed a significant amount of work with primary schools for several years.  A major part of my role outside of the classroom was liaison with, and transition from, primary schools to The Allertonshire School. My Master’s degree through York University in the mid-1980s focussed on an active investigation of primary transition.

I enjoy watching cricket and football and I am a Middlesbrough season ticket holder. I also belong to the Rotary Club of Northallerton and Northallerton Town Council.
