I have been a LA governor for over a year now. I have subject responsibility for design and technology, I’m part of the Headteacher Pay committee and I have a special area of responsibility which is the behaviour policy. In my career I provide HR advice and guidance to schools and often got asked if I had ever thought about being a Governor and sharing my knowledge, advice and guidance that way too. I became a Governors because I think volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Not only will I help an organisation or in this case a school, but I will learn so much in the process in the too.  In my career and in my governor’s role I try to help schools run as well as possible so the teaching and support staff can concentrate on providing the best possible education to the children.
